Students unable to participate in physical
education due to medically certified infirmity or injury can maintain credit in
said course if they complete all the assignments indicated by their physical
education teacher and monitored by Mrs. Moroz (Media Specialist). These circumstances pertain only to
students who miss class for 5 weeks or less. For those students, lessons
related to physical fitness are provided.
For every day under 5 weeks, the student will
complete an article critique daily.
That means you will do one critique for each day that you are out of
class. They will be worth the point
value of an absence for that day.
Students
who complete 5 weeks of daily assignments but miss more than 5 weeks of
physical education classes, will be given a U1 (no credit) for their quarterly
grade.
STUDY HALL PROCEDURES
1. The student must give a medical note to
the nurse who will complete a medical excuse form.
·
Take the
medical excuse form to your physical education teacher.
·
Bring the
yellow copy of the medical excuse form to the media center.
2. It is extremely important that medical
study hall students sign in daily in the study hall log book for attendance
purposes.
3. Students are not allowed to go to
other classrooms during study hall without permission from their physical
education teacher. The written
permission is given to Mrs. Moroz.
4. Students who need a medical note in
order to return to physical education class must give the note to the nurse
before returning to class. The nurse
will give you a signed release that must be initialed by Mrs. Moroz (so that
you can be dropped from the Study Hall class) before being submitted to your
physical education teacher.
DAILY
ASSIGNMENTS (for students
in study hall 5 weeks or less)
1. Students will choose from one of
the designated articles on the computer (click here) or select an article from specific health magazines for the daily
physical education assignment. Students are expected to complete their
assignment during their medical
study hall period. If time remains, students are then allowed to study for
other class assignments.
2. At the conclusion of the period students
must hand in their assignment to the library staff person at the circulation
desk. The work will then be given
to the physical education teacher.
Failure to hand in an assignment will result in a daily point deduction
from the physical education grade equivalent to that of an absence.
3. Students are expected to keep track of
the articles critiqued so as not to repeat the article.
